After the experience of 9-11, I felt sadness and helplessness as, I think, many of us did. I therefore eagerly seized the chance that Drunell gave me to express these emotions through my quilt. I chose a patriotic theme because I felt that the concept of our way of life has been unfairly twisted and vilified. I chose the straight sharp lines because our resolve to perservere must be strong. The Fire and Police Department logos with the gold star above speak for themselves.
