Exhibition Schedule

Exhibitions of submitted quilts take place at community events, and the quilts are also be exhibited in museums, galleries and quilt shows. The community events are modeled after the AIDS Memorial Quilt exhibitions. The quilt panels are sometimes joined and displayed on the ground, and the general public is invited to view the quilts and grieve. When the quilts are exhibited in museums, galleries and quilt shows, the panels are hung separately on the wall.

New York City, Wednesday, September 10, 6:00 - 7:30 PM, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, September 11 Quilts: Mending a Diverse Community of Artists, video documentary on the September 11 Quilts memorial exhibition.

Over a period of six months Drunell collected and compiled video footage relating to the experiences of several participants who have made quilts for the September 11 Quilts memorial exhibition. The result is a 20-minute documentary that illuminates how participation in the project and the making and viewing of the quilts have helped individuals to grieve and given them a renewed appreciation of life. This spirit of community and the experiences garnered from this exhibition are documented in the video.
